Maria Cuji

Maria, an Ecuadorian designer, embarked on a remarkable journey to the United Kingdom in 1997 and laid the foundation of her own millinery company in 2008. With exquisite craftsmanship at its core, Maria's brand encompasses a captivating array of bespoke hat blocks, meticulously fashioned into diverse shapes and sizes. Her masterful artistry extends beyond this, as she effortlessly weaves enchanting tales through her splendid collection of hats and fascinators.  During her ventures as a consultant in Ecuador, Maria delved even deeper into the realm of high fashion, by conducting research for renowned brands and institutions. This experience motivated her to enrol in a short course at the London College of Fashion, where she further pursued her her passion for the sartorial arts. Maria's close collaboration with Ecuadorian artisans in their traditional workshops has been instrumental in both her personal growth and developing an innate understanding of their meticulous craft. These invaluable experiences accompanied her as she embarked on her BA in Textiles  at Central Saint Martins and later her MA in Bio Design. Colleagues and associates who have had the opportunity to know and work with Maria often describe her as "One of a Kind" and "A true grafter." She fearlessly embraces experimentation and pushes the boundaries of design. With boundless enthusiasm, Maria ardently combines and explores the potential of unconventional materials, skilfully transforming chance discoveries into exceptional creations. With a firm commitment to making each piece a unique work of art, Maria constantly strives for artistic excellence.
